Typeset provided copy and manipulate selected images to create a visually engaging chapter for Karl Blossfeldt: Masters of the Camera.

the approach

I studied the provided text and imagery, focusing on the curves and tones of Blossfeldt’s plant photography. To create visual interest, I mirrored and overlaid the images, mimicking darkroom techniques. A deep blue tint enhanced the textures and foliage details.

For the typesetting component, I used small caps for the first line of each paragraph and sentence case for the remaining copy. Some spreads had text shaped to the plant forms, ensuring consistency and harmony between typography and content.
